I met Katie through her mom Lynda, a fellow teacher at the middle school I teach at (Katie’s own alma mater!) I’ve really gotten to know Katie over the last year and a half during all of the fun planning that goes into a wedding! She is just a wonderfully sweet person with such a caring heart and genuine personality. I met Kevin during our engagement shoot. They were such a fabulous couple to shoot; they way they looked at each other said it all- and they did not disappoint for their wedding day. They were all smiles and in love; they were a gorgeous couple.
Another big thanks, as always, to Wendi: second shooter extraordinaire… and to my brother Dan, for helping out as our “candid man.”
Katie’s matron-of-honor was her cousin… another wonderful and sweet person.

Another gorgeous church…

Katie and Kevin wanted some photos with the Hartford skyline in the background. We went over to a foot bridge right by the highway and got some great shots.

During cocktail hour, Katie and Kevin snuck out to take a little walk around the G. Fox building…

One of the best first dances of all time…

Congratulations Katie-Lyn and Kevin!
Heather and Tim made the decision eary on to have their wedding at a place that means the most to them: their home. Under the planning consultation of Lynda from Details Weddings, their backyard wedding came together as a beautiful and intimate summer get together for their closest friends and families. Heather looked radiant and definitely vintage Hollywood, which was perfect for her. Tim was all smiles with his contagious laughter and good spirits.
Wendi and I wish you both the best of luck and congratulations. Thanks for letting us be a part of your day.

And the following two photos are why it is cool to have more than one shooter:
mine: from the ground

and Wendi’s: from the side

Ok..the coolness of this type of shot is still fresh for me. So you guys will have to bear with me with all of my psychadelic dancing shots!

Thanks again to Wendi for all your help!!
Where to begin… hmm.. well, I’ve known Nikki (and now Steve) for many years. Nikki and Steve were the very first couple to let Wendi and I photograph them (an informal engagement session) before we knew what the heck we were doing! I’ve always been greatful for that. And a few months after that, they asked me (not Wendi, since she was actually IN the wedding) to shoot their day for them. I was so happy that they were going to let me be such a big part of their wedding experience: fast forward (just a couple of years
and here we are… a beautiful (and slightly rainy) Sunday afternoon on Candlewood Lake.
I have to say that I had an amazing time shooting this wedding, for a few reasons:
- I got to shoot with a “team.” This consisted of the following peeps: My brother, Daniel – official third shooter and “natural.” (see post below!) Gwyneth Colleen- an inspiring kindred spirt with fabulous energy, amazing creativity, and just an all-around fun and good person. Wendi- although she wore a bridesmaid dress, and didn’t carry a camera, she was still there as always with her impecable eye and welcomed suggestions.
- The girls of the bridal party- I’ve gotten to know these girls over various meet-ups and photo sessions. They are really a great group. Always so nice and always laughing!
- Nikki’s mom is a caterer: She brought my new favorite thing to eat in the WORLD- chicken salad sandwiches with pears. ooooo yeah.
- Joe, my hubby, was a guest and we all ate a yummy dinner together.
Big thanks to Gwyn again.. the photos below are taken by both myself and Gwyn.

Tammy and Tony are a couple which I really feel blessed to know. They are people that make you feel comfortable the minute you are in their presence, which makes working with them an absolute pleasure. One of my most favorite moments was their “first look.” Tammy and Tony decided to go with a first look prior to the ceremony instead of a ceremony first look. I love being able to do these. There is something absolutely moving about a couple sharing the excitement of a first look in a private moment.. apart from the eyes of guests and family. Love it.
I have to give a special thanks to Rachel of www.mergeweddings.com for making the trek all the way from Boston to shoot a wedding for a couple of New Yorkers.

The first look…

Working with Kelly and Mike has been great. I have really had a blast getting to know this couple and being a part of such an important even in their lives. Such an easy going couple and what I consider good people. And it doesn’t hurt that they have an incredibly beautiful and photogenic daughter!
Another added bonus was that this wedding and reception took place at Lily Lake… both Wendi and I had a great feeling of nastolgia as we reminisced about our weddings which we both had at Lily Lake.
Here is a quick preview of my favs from their day!
